Traditional Braces GET BRACES FOR $75/MONTH
Here at Newport Dental Group, we are happy to offer orthodontic solutions to our patient families. Traditional braces are one treatment option for a teen or adult who has been diagnosed with malocclusion, or a misaligned bite. Crooked or crowded teeth can be a sign of the patient’s jaw not fully developing, or not developing properly, and is often a result of your genetic makeup. The sooner we can diagnose a treatment plan, the sooner you can have a straight, healthy smile!
There are several treatment options for crooked or crowded teeth; Invisalign® or other clear aligner solutions, cosmetic braces, and traditional braces.
What are Traditional Braces?
Traditional braces are permanently affixed to your teeth for the life cycle of your treatment, which can be between 12-18 months, and sometimes longer depending on your specific needs. Unlike Invisalign® aligners, which are removable for eating and brushing, you cannot remove braces without the help of our team.
Braces have several components; metal brackets cemented to each individual tooth, and removable wires held in place with elastic bands. These bands and wire will be removed at each appointment as we evaluate tooth movement. They are also removed before your professional cleanings, which we recommend having every 4 months to ensure a healthy mouth free of decay around the brackets.
Traditional Braces are Cost-Effective
One of the great benefits of traditional braces is that they tend to be less expensive than other types of orthodontic treatment. The cost-effectiveness of traditional braces is a great benefit considering that it is the first choice of our team for complex cases.
Caring for Your Braces
While wearing braces, there are certain foods such as popcorn, hard candy, sugary foods, and some raw fruits and vegetables that we recommend you avoid. Chewy and hard foods, including ice, can bend the wires and even cause a bracket to fall off from the pressure. Sticky foods can easily be caught around brackets and can make cleaning your teeth more complicated. We recommend that you continue brushing after every meal, as it is easier for food to become caught under the wires and around the brackets. We may also recommend using a WaterPik, or other cleaning tool that helps to remove food debris.
After Your Orthodontic Treatment
After any orthodontic treatment, we will recommend using a removable retainer to ensure your smile remains straight and healthy for your lifetime. Directly after treatment, we may ask you to wear your retainer full time, except when eating and brushing your teeth. After awhile, you can move to wearing your retainer during the night only, and enjoy having your bright, white smile shine again!
